About PowerCycleTheSIGO
Welcome to PowerCycleTheSIGO, the go-to resource for Signal Officers, those interested in military communications, or anyone curious about the challenges and rewards of serving in the Signal Corps.
My Journey
As a Signal Officer, I’ve been through my fair share of challenges, from troubleshooting communications in difficult conditions to working with equipment that never quite meets expectations. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that being a Signal Officer is one of the most thankless yet vital jobs in the Army. While no one notices when everything is running smoothly, they’ll certainly notice when comms go down—and that’s where we come in.
I’ve worked with a diverse range of officers and NCOs from multiple branches, and every one of them seems to think they’re somehow “kryptonite” to technology. This can make our jobs as Signal Officers more difficult, but it’s also part of what makes the role so uniquely rewarding. It’s our job to ensure that communication flows seamlessly, no matter the mission or environment.
Why This Blog?
After working in the Signal Corps for over a decade, I realized that there are many lessons I wish I had learned earlier in my career. Continuity books were almost always non-existent, and I had to figure things out on my own—often through trial and error. This blog is my way of sharing the mistakes I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, and the insights I’ve gained to help other Signal Officers (and future Signaleers) navigate their careers more effectively.
Whether you’re new to the Signal Corps or have been around for a while, this site will give you valuable insights on everything from basic technical skills to advice on how to manage a team of NCOs and Soldiers. I’ll dive into topics like tactical communications, COMSEC, satellite systems, antenna theory, and much more. While the job can feel overwhelming at times, I hope this site helps you feel more prepared and supported.
